Morgan's Monograms History
No Job is Too Big or Too Small
Mary Morgan started Morgan's Monograms in La Mesa, California in 1983, after her husband died and she was left to support herself and her 3-year-old daughter. Her father-in-law, Al Morgan, loaned her the money to buy a single head custom embroidery machine, and Mary knocked on doors during the day to find customers, and ran the machine at night to fulfill those orders.
Mary worked hard in the beginning just trying to find enough work to make ends meet, but has always treated the customer as king. One time in those early years Mary spent $6,000 to redo a completed order when the customer complained that the colors weren't quite right.
After a year and a half Mary was able to purchase her first
multi-head embroidery machine: a 6 head. A multi-head machine
allows the operator to do multiple, in this case 6 flats (shirts,
jackets,
bath robes, etc.) or hats at a time. As the years went
by Mary was
able to add employees and more equipment until today she has a
total of 77 sewing heads (1-15 head, 1-12 head 5-8 head,
1-6 head,
1-2 head and 2 single head machines - the single heads are used
for small custom orders), has a staff of over 40 employees,
and runs multiple shifts.
Maintaining customer satisfaction, providing top quality work and keeping orders on-time made Morgan's Monograms one of the top custom art digitizing, embroidering, monogramming, or custom stitching shops in the west.
Morgan's art department has won awards for the fine digitizing (creating computer images of customer supplied drawings, logos, artwork or photographs so the embroidery machines can do the stitching) they have done.
In 1999, Mary Morgan won the Outstanding Business Person of the Year award from the City of La Mesa. The National Association of Women Business Owners presented Mary with the BRAVO award in 2003, for her vision, entrepreneurial spirit and accomplishments as a distinguished businesswoman.
Morgan's Monograms is also Small Business Certified, and can fulfill minority and small business contract requirements. Contact us today and find out what quality embroidery is supposed to be.
